At one time General Motors owned all of Hughes Electronics. One of the innovations to come out of this is OnStar, a collaboration between GM, EDS, and Hughes formed in 1996.

When I read an article like this it makes me appreciate the forward pushing (not leaning) leadership of Apple / Tim Cook and Tesla / Elon Mush.

GM and other US automakers rest on the laurels and do not think wide enough: their bandwidth is too narrow, their rollout baudrate is too narrow.
