Jeffery Paul is attracting a lot of attention for his latest blog post which points out just how often Apple operating systems phone home.  The recent slow down in many macs around the rollout of BigSur were caused by the Online Certificate Status Protocol stapling which is one example of why the mac OS would phone home (you read about that at arstechnica.
