Cleaning your Apple Milanese Loop band

One of the most attractive, appealing, and comfortable Apple watch bands, when wearing my 1st generation 42.0mm stainless steel Apple Watch, is the Milanese Loop, which I purchased separately about two months after the original Apple was released in April of 2015.

I'd planned on ordering my watch with the Milanese Loop, but that would have added three months to the delivery date, so I went with  the white sport board.

After several months of wear I noticed the Loop was getting a little gray and faded. There have been several blog posts written about this, and ways to clean the loop. One of the more informative can be found on MacRumors.

After reading several blogs, what I do is:
  • take a used Philips Sonicare toothbrush,
  • spray it with Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner
    • (they have a stainless steel formula, but I still use the All-Purpose version);
  • set the Philips Sonicare to its lowest brushing setting, and brush the loop clean;
  • let the loop set with the Simple Green for about 3-5 minutes;
  • then rinse the loop under a faucet with warm water,
  • and wrap it in a towel, gently squeezing, to dry.
Enjoy your Milanese Loop. May you wear it in comfort for years to come...
