Brent Rose's switch from Mac to Windows

WiReD's Brent Rose rants & raves about the good, the bad, and the frustrating of switching from MacOS to Windows.   A happy ending...? Let's just stay I'm sticking with Apple.

As a 2017 13-inch MacBook Pro owner, I agree with all of what Brent writes regarding the state of my generation of Apple laptop:
  • I dislike using a dongle,
  • The 'Butterfly' keyboard is louder than typing on my old typewriter (yeah, I grew up in that generation).
If I were doing it over again, I would have stuck with my trusty and reliable 2013 13-MacBook Pro with two USB 3.0 ports, two Thunderbolt 2 ports, as well as an HDMI port and SDXC card slot.

Brent doesn't stop with the hardware. He does a thorough drill down on the challenges of the data and cloud service migration, as well as moving from MacOS to Windows PC applications. Hint: I came to appreciate the consistency of Apple and 3rd-party keyboard shortcuts!

I've also come to appreciate MacOS security. I happen to believe that the Unix architecture is inherently more secure than Windows. Brent experienced a browser malware attack even though a free trial of McAfee Antivirus came pre-installed.

You'll also learn why it's easier for Apple to provide more consistent hassle-free operating system updates.
